Stickers Bumped in Favor of Magnets

Wade Baffa asked:

How often do you see a shiny new Lexus coasting down the road with an “I’d Rather Be Fishing” bumper sticker slapped on the back?  Or, have you seen a proud vehicle owner buffing his vinyl “Don’t Blame Me…I Voted for Bush” to a perfect sheen?  Probably not.  Vinyl bumper stickers are being phased out.  They leave residue, are hard to remove, and scream 1992.

Today, political candidates, schools and other organizations are moving to the bumper magnets.  Bumper magnets are non-offensive to vehicles, leave no residue, and can be removed and replaced at will.  Vehicle owners are much more likely to support a cause on their vehicle if they know the integrity of the vehicle will not be damaged.

The cost of a bumper magnet is a little higher than a vinyl decal.  However, the cost is generally lower than a static cling, which would be used in a similar fashion, but on the inside of car windows.  The issue with placing a cling in the interior of a window is that, nowadays, most vehicles have tinted windows, thus rendering the static cling useless in many cases.

Bumper magnets can also be made easily into full-sized door magnets up to 18?x24”.  In addition to the campaign signs, bumper magnets are a great political tool. They are good for parades and in-town driving, as large vinyl decals tend to get pricey.

Quick tips:

-Apply magnets to clean, dry surfaces

-Remove magnets when going through a car wash or power washing a vehicle

-Remove magnets when driving on highways and interstates - these are typically rated up to 55 mph

-Apply to a smooth surface, avoid placing over molding, rivets and curves on a vehicle

-Occasionally wash under the magnet

-Periodically move the magnet to a different location on the car to avoid any chance of discoloration

If you are looking for an affordable alternative to an adhesive sticker, go with the bumper magnet.  You’ll enjoy the versatility and your car will appreciate it too.

She Drives Me Nervous

December 20th, 2009 | Posted in Dating   Comments Off
George Wood asked:

You know the feeling. You are at a party or club and you see a woman that you like a lot. You want to talk to her and then it happens. Your body seems to go through some kind of weird transformation. It is like you are getting the flu right there in the middle of the party.

You start to sweat, you feel clammy all over, and like your clothes hurt being on you. Your stomach knots up, you feel your jaw muscles clamping, and the urge to run and hide seems to almost take over your legs. Your face gets red, you cant swallow. You stammer when you speak and feel goosebumps all over-painful ones.

No, you are not breaking out in diphtheria or small pox. You have a good hearty does of nervousness. Lots of us go through this, that feeling of anxiety and nervousness when getting ready to talk to a pretty girl. It isnt a pleasant feeling and if you let it, it can make you avoid circumstances where you will meet attractive women and then you are in a bind. Without the ability to meet women, your love life has no chance and you do not want to be that guy. You do not want to be the one who is alone with no hope of being with someone.

So what to do? We need to examine the reasons for this anxiety and give ourselves the tools to overcome it. You know it is possible because you see guys who are at ease around girls. You just need to know their secrets.

Breathe

At the heart of all those nervous reactions are problems with your breathing. Whether you know it or not, when you see that girl and imagine yourself talking to her, your breathing patterns become erratic. Your breathing becomes shallow so you do not get enough oxygen, which explains the sweats and the sense of drowning.

So the first thing you do when you feel those sensations come on is concentrate on your breathing. Give yourself internal coaching to breathe slowly, with long, deep inhales and then slowly let it out. Do that nine or ten times and your physical traumas will begin to subside and you will calm down. Then once you calm down, you can address your approach to the moments that set you off like that.

Expectations

The reason you are feeling so anxious is you feel inadequate to talk to this woman. You see her as a goddess, a princess, and a sexual icon that is so far above you, there is no way you can know what to say to her. So you need to get a firm grasp on who she really is.

The woman is not looking to you to be some overpowering lover boy. In fact, most women like guys who are just ordinary people, just like them. They really come to the meeting with you with very few expectations. They want to know who you really are. You do not have to have lines or play games to get a woman to spend time with you. A deep dark secret of women is that they much prefer a genuine, humble guy who just talks to them as they would to anyone else over some smooth operator with fancy pick-up lines.

They Are Human Beings

Women are human beings, just like you. Surprise! Maybe you do not know much about romance, but you do not have to. Women desire companionship, conversation, and getting to know a sweet, interesting guy. Guess what? That is you! So the first thing you do is adjust how you view the woman.

Get in your head the image of the girl in your life who is the easiest person in the world to know. It might be your friend from grade school, a sister, or your mom. When you look at that girl in the club, imagine that she is just like the girl who was your closest friend. If you approach her that way, your success with women will be one hundred times better than those playboys.

One way to overcome your anxiety about women who are strangers is to spend time with women you know well. Whether it is at work, school or home, talk to the girl you consider to be a friend and get used to that. As you talk to her, think of that girl in the bar and image yourself having that conversation with her. To be truthful with you, if that girl in the bar was able to be relaxed and at ease with you, like your sister or friend girl is, she would flip for you.

Friendship

One way to make that anxiety disappear like magic is just to forget about romance entirely. It does not mean it wont happen, but stop trying. See every woman you meet as a potential new friend and offer them your friendship. No, you do not go up to her and say Will you be my friend, but in how you introduce yourself, how you bring up topics and build your relationship, build it as a strong friendship and the rest will fall into place.

Good romances always start as friendships anyway. And the things that make a great friendship work-shared interests, humor, and fun times together-those are the core building blocks of romance, too.

If you keep your mind centered on friendship, you never have to worry about picking up a girl or coming on to her. Your feelings for each other will grow naturally and you will just want to be together. Before long you are going places together, sharing concerts, movies, the park. And then one day you will wake up and realize that, lo and behold, you have a girlfriend and you were not even trying! Trust me, it works.

And that is the best possible way to build a relationship. When that friendship slips over into romance and you share that first hug, that first kiss, and come to know your friendship is turning into love, the excitement and joy you both experience will top the excitement of any one night stand or pick-up thousands of times over. You will look back on when you got nervous and felt like you had small pox and wonder why you ever let yourself get so nervous in the first place.

Pump Bump

December 19th, 2009 | Posted in Health   Comments Off
Dr. Marc Mitnick asked:

Pump Bump

The most common cause of posterior heel pain that I see (as a podiatrist) is generally referred to as pump bump. It is also known as Haglund’s deformity or a retrocalcaneal exostosis. Typically a woman , and to a lesser extent a man, will present to the office complaining of a sharp pain on the back of the heel just slightly off the center of the achilles tendon. There will be no history of trauma, although the patient may be required to do a lot of walking in a dress shoe. The pain will be at its worst when in dress shoes, may be less painful in sneakers and may be hardly noticeable when barefoot.

Examination of the back of the heel will reveal a slightly enlarged area that may be slightly red in color, mildly swollen, and usually very painful to touch. An x-ray will usually reveal an enlargement of the bone in that area. Not coincidentally, you will notice that the top of the patient’s dress shoe just happens to cut across the heel at that level. What has happened is that through constant wearing of dress shoes, the shoe itself has irritated the underlying bone, the bone has slightly enlarged as a result of that irritation and in an effort to protect the area of irritation, the body has formed a bursal sac which itself has become inflamed and is now a bursitis.

The obvious treatment would be to avoid wearing the shoes that aggravate the problem; that is easier said than done. However, probably the biggest culprit is not necessarily the style of the shoe but rather the length of the shoe. In most cases the shoe is too small for the patient’s foot. Having said that, I have been in this business long enough to know that a fashionable woman is going to continue to wear the shoes that look the best even though they might not feel the best.

That said, sometimes adding a small heel lift to the shoe will help as it may raise the heel just enough so that the top back portion of the shoe does irritate the enlarged bone and bursal sac. If the area is not too inflamed and painful, one may try some of the new gel cushions that are available in an effort to reduce friction.

From a medical stand point, short term anti-inflammatory medication may help but of course will not cure if the shoe is still irritating the area. Cortisone injections in very limited amounts, as well as physical therapy may also be effective.

In instances where conservative measures fail, the patient should entertain surgical excision whereby the overgrowth of bone is removed as well as the overlying bursitis. This is usually reserved for people who have stopped wearing the shoes that originally caused the problem, but are still having pain nonetheless. Unfortunately, many foot problems can continue to be bothersome even when the causative agent is identified and removed. (Once you have it; you have it!)

Acne Alternative Treatments

December 17th, 2009 | Posted in Health   Comments Off
Sarah Rhodes asked:

There are many forms of acne, which would explain why it is so difficult to treat. I have listed several causes of acne and many of those may surprise you, but I also hope that they will help you discover what causes your acne. For instance, a great many people would likely be surprised to learn that acne is not caused by stress, as they may think, but more likely can be attributed to their fancy new perfume or cologne.

The symptoms of acne are persistent, recurrent pimples orblemishes on the skin. Acne is commonly foundon the face but can also occur on the chest, shoulder, neck and upper portion of the back (often referred to as bacne).

Accutane can cause such damage to a fetus that if a doctor prescribes it for you, he is required by law to make sure you have two negative pregnancy tests no more than a week before you start taking the drug. You have to be using birth control, so most doctors prescribe birth control pills for acne as well, and you must have a negative pregnancy test before each month’s refill of Accutane.

Acne is not caused by poor hygiene. While skin infections are associated with acne, lack of cleanliness is not the reason for acne outbreaks. The combination of oil and dead cells which produce acne is located beneath the skin’s surface where it is impossible to clean it away. Gentle cleansing with soap and water once or twice daily will keep your skin as healthy as possible. Scrubbing too hard may worsen acne.

The reality about many of the skin care items that are available at your retail store, are that they are developed to target the mass audience, which means they don’t have a long-term care system in place, or treatment plan to help you become free and clear of your pimples and zits. The concentrations of medication are very low, and in most cases they will include ingredients that may not work for all skin types. Read the labels on these over-the-counter cleansers, creams, and lotions, and you will more than likely notice that they claim to be good for all skin types, such as sensitive skin, normal and oily skin! What this means is that they add ingredients in very low levels of medicinal ingredients that will be ok for everybody, and normally only work for individuals with mild acne!

While laser skin resurfacing, Dermabrasion, and chemical peels are the most popular methods for acne scar removal, injection methods are also used. The injections may contain collagen, or fat taken from other parts of the body. While these injections work well, they do have to be repeated often, and they can be quite expensive. The injections do not actually remove or heal the scars - it simply hides them by filling them up.

Adult Acne: The Facts

December 16th, 2009 | Posted in Non Fiction   Comments Off
Matthew Hick asked:

You may remember suffering with embarrassing acne when you were a teenager. Sure, there were those times when you were too horrified to go on a date because of a pimple on your cheek. And there were the times when you couldn’t imagine having your crush pass you in the hall when you had a big zit on your nose. But now that you are older, you notice that your acne is coming back. What is happening? Unfortunately, it is called adult acne, and it affects 25% of men and 50% of women at some point during their adulthood.

The main cause of acne is blocked hair follicles or pores. There are many reasons they can become blocked. Acne can reappear at any age. It can be a reoccurrence of our teenage acne problem. It can be a hormone issue, or it could possibly be a first time occurrence. If you are an adult with acne and you have never had it before, it is a good idea to let a doctor investigate its cause and determine why this is happening.

Sometimes acne can just be a chronic, persistent problem. It is most common to women. Due to menstrual cycles and hormonal changes, which accompany them, women often experience acne outbreaks the week before their menstruation. Birth control pills, which contain the sebaceous gland stimulating hormone androgen, can also be a reason for adult acne. This type of acne is referred to as hormonal acne and is usually the main culprit of adult acne in women.

Medications can also cause acne in adults. Anabolic steroids, anti-epileptic medicines, anti-tuberculosis drugs and iodine containing medicines can all produce acne in adults.

Stress is also a contributor to an acne problem. The older we are, it seems the more stress we have in our lives. When we are stressed out, our body produces cortisol, a steroidal hormone that over stimulates oil glands and promotes acne. Any type of hormonal imbalance can be a cause of acne.

There are several treatments available for adult acne. Some birth control pills are capable of keeping hormones at bay and reduce blemishes. Topical creams and gels called retinoids can help unclog pores in mild to moderate cases. Antibiotic topical creams and gels; oral antibiotics, or a combination of both, may be needed in moderate to severe cases.

Gentle face washings using mild soaps are recommended. You should avoid any rough scrubbings. This will irritate your skin and make the situation worse. Women should use a moisturizer since acne dries the skin. When choosing cosmetics, look for the types labeled noncomedogenic. This means they do not clog pores, the primary cause of acne.

Adult acne can cause physical, as well as, emotional problems in people. You may wonder why, after all these years, did this skin condition show it’s blemished head. Or you may have been experiencing it on a regular basis. It can interfere with your life everyday. It can be a challenging task, but with the assistance of medications and a dermatologist, you can regain control again.

Secrets For Traffic Generation And Conversion-Bumping Techniques

December 15th, 2009 | Posted in Business   Comments Off
Bill Noel asked:

Isn’t it tragic that some web owners manage to get a large number of visitors but only a handful of them actually sign up? Having 1 million visitors monthly is not a guarantee that you are going to have a decent number of paying customers. People are generally wary and cautious of purchasing anything online because of the internet’s reputation of harboring scammers. If your product is no different from what people could easily get at BestBuy or Walmart, chances are, you’ll have a really hard time wooing customers.

The good news is, the internet has unlimited possibilities no matter how bleak the general picture is. If you are an online entrepreneur, you can’t afford to let discouragements get in the way of you reaching your maximum earning potential. As they say, money is the barometer of success, and you should always put your mind on the possibilities rather than the obstacles. The truth is, there are thousands of really successful people who are now enjoying the fruits of their labor. They are everywhere in the planet, and they get huge paychecks from advertisements or direct selling. Wouldn’t it be great if you can be one of them?

Sure it is. But before you get there, you’re going to have to learn many things like traffic generation and visitor conversion. The way your website looks speaks volume and if you’re going to convince people to buy, you need to tailor it to their tastes. Learn as much as you can about opt-in forms and landing squeeze pages. Familiarize yourself with common codes for PHP 5 and MySQL. Take cues from the pros that have actual hands-on knowledge of this subject. Be on the constant lookout for cutting-edge techniques that you know can help boost your visitor conversion.

Always evaluate your website from the viewer’s perspective. Do I need to move the pop-up a little to the right? Is it appropriate to add a video in this section? This color seems dull and lacks life. Shall I change it to a sharper one? These things can significantly effect making your website appeal to your customer’s tastes.

The internet is changing by the minute. Take time to research on the latest news about internet marketing. There are more ways than one when it comes to selling your products and services. The most important thing is that you don’t miss out on a technique that could have earned you thousands of dollars.

As you discover cool ways of doing things, always do your best to learn them firsthand. This is important so that you won’t have the need to hire the help of an expensive web designer. If you do things on your own, you get more control of your website and you are able to implement exactly what’s on your mind. Always put a dynamic feel to your website. It should be full of life, with lots and lots of information. People are naturally drawn towards something where there is much activity going on.

What It Is

An “auction bump” is where eBay sellers can post their auction, buy it now item or eBay store item right to your website. The term “bump” refers to the way the posted auction are placed, newest first while the oldest postings are dropped…or “bumped” off. Postings include both an image and brief description of their item. The process is completely self-serve and is extremely simple for visitors to use.

Now why would you let someone advertise THEIR items on YOUR site? Lets read on…

Build And Keep Traffic

With over 150 million registered users and millions of items for sale, the competition on eBay had gotten extremely stiff. Smart sellers are turning to sites in addition to eBay to help drive traffic to their products & listings. This is where you come in. With a little effort you can flood your site with eager eBayers looking for free advertising and promotion opportunities. Once they find your site they will keep coming back to advertise new items for sale!

Generate Income

Perhaps the most important feature of this script is how easy it is to generate income through the eBay Affiliate Program, or as it is now known, the eBay Partner Network (EPN). Every posting a visitor adds to your site is automatically converted to an affiliate link. Each time an item posted to your site is clicked that user receives a tracking cookie from eBay. You will earn a commission for every item that person buys on eBay for 7 days.

Script Features And Requirements

Have complete control of postings with a backend admin system including user banning & remove or edit items. You can also modify the look & feel of the script output from the admin area.

As a personal user of this script I found it extremely simple to install and even easier to manage. Acne Cures For Teenage Years

December 14th, 2009 | Posted in Medicine   Comments Off
Anne P asked:

The majority of people develop acne at some stage in adolescents, often beginning with the development of blackheads on their nose. Children as young as eight regularly visit dermatology clinics looking for acne solutions. The first important point to remember is that the black “dot” at the center of that blackhead isn’t dirt, but a combination of melanin and cells that turn black when surfaced. Unfortunately, acne carries a stigma that often lead to teenagers feeling dirty or embarrassed about the development of acne.

It’s estimated that over ninety percent of teenagers aged between 12 and 17 will be affected by acne and similar skin conditions at one stage or another in life. It may be an occasional pimple, or it could be a full-scale breakout. It may not be limited to the face; acne may also develop on the neck, chest and back.

Adolescence can be a testing time - perhaps the understatement of the year. Bodies develop, hormones are high, and teenagers find themselves facing new social experiences. Acne issues simply add to the mix and can lead to extreme frustration, embarrassment and discontent.

Teenagers are the main age group feeling the affects of acne, due to natural body developments and hormonal changes. Both growth and *** hormones - which, as their names imply, are responsible for physical, mental and sexual development - swing into action during the onset of puberty. For adolescent males, the hormone responsible is testosterone, which is produced in the testes. In female teens, the primary hormones are estrogen and progesterone, which are produced in the ovaries. Androgens, the *** hormones also cause sebaceous glands that secrete more oil, affecting the condition of the skin.

Unfortunately, less than ten percent of all teens affected by acne actual visit dermatology experts for diagnosis and treatment. Many will take the advice of various home cure resources, some offering valuable insights, some less valuable such as the use of toothpaste, dishwashing liquid, hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol and even Preparation H to reduce pimples. These solutions aren’t developed as a cure for acne, and can have adverse affects on the skin. While you may think hydrogen peroxide and alcohol, as disinfecting agents, would reduce bacteria and cleanse the skin, the tend to dry the skin to an unhealthy extent and can actually make acne worse. There are many products on the market - both prescription and over-the-counter - that are specifically designed for acne treatment that come highly recommended.

As all teenagers affected by acne know, it can be difficult, but very important to talk to your parents about the psychological effects acne has. A common myth is that teenage acne means ‘bad skin,’ it is actually a simple development stage. In many clinical studies, acne sufferers share feelings of depression and some have even felt suicidal as a result of acne. This is an extremely alarming issue, considering acne can be treated simply by educating yourself about acne and effective treatments. Parents need to be aware if a teenager is becoming anxious, depressed, ashamed, humiliated and embarrassed. Such anxiety affects behavior and attitude that reflect in poor school performance, discipline issues and often effecting social skills. Teens may develop body image problems, and you may start to withdraw from friends, family and generally become more introverted. This can be seen in changes as small as a teen that suddenly stops going to parties, school events and social events.

Acne can often affect family life and create problems within the family unit, as frustrations grow children tend to act out against parents and siblings. It can be extremely difficult when other family members make jokes about the situation and humiliate with subtle remarks.

Needless to say, acne can turn relationships into a nightmare. There’s nothing worse than preparing for a big date and noticing a pimple in the middle of your face. You begin to believe that your date will see nothing other than your acne- you, the Human Zit - and you may even be tempted to cancel.

As you get older, you may become self conscious visiting, or taking part in interviews and meetings. To worsen the situation, some studies have demonstrated that employers may actually discriminate against job applicants affected by acne. It’s undeniably unethical and often illegal, but it just demonstrates how much importance today’s society places on acne-free skin, encouraging the stigma that surrounds acne.

And being stressed out about acne will only cause it to get worse. There is a direct correlation between stress levels and acne flare-ups. In a March 2001 study conducted by the American Academy of Dermatology, 10% of teens stated that acne is one of the worst things in their lives. Virtually every teen is obsessed with his or her complexion and disturbed by acne breakouts. Sufferers are convinced that everyone around them is staring at their faces - and we all know that kids can be cruel, inflicting damage with names like “Pizza Face.”

Parents can also be a unintentional negative influence, telling adolescents that they mustn’t be practicing proper hygiene, further fueling the frustration. This creates tension and alienation. The best solution for teenage acne can be an informed parent. A responsible parent that takes his or her teenager to a dermatologist and arrange adequate acne treatment. Parents must remember that acne is a normal part of adolescence - not an abnormality. Perhaps they are reacting to their own teenage experiences and painful memories. Some parents may even be embarrassed by their teenagers’ complexions. A skilled, experienced dermatologist can help both teenager and parent deal with the real issues associated with acne.

Do Adults Really Get Acne?

December 14th, 2009 | Posted in Non Fiction   Comments Off
Louise Forrest asked:

Most people are aware that teenagers are prone to acne. We have heard a great deal about the hormonal changes that contribute to acne in adolescents. Take a look at any given group of youngsters and you can be sure that at least a few, if not all of them, will be suffering from acne of one kind or another.

You probably remember struggling with an acne problem at some time or other during your adolescence. At the time, it probably seemed like the end of the world. But as the years passed, so did the acne and naturally in time, you forgot all about it.

Could that be acne? But you happened to look in the mirror the other day, and what you saw sure gave you a jolt. Welcome to adult acne. If you ever thought you had finished with acne just because you are no longer a teenager, it is time to come back to earth. It is time to realize that adults do suffer from acne, although it is a little different from the acne that troubles teenagers.

Adult acne, the bad news. In a way, adults have a bigger problem with acne because the kind of acne that develops in adulthood, appropriately called adult onset acne, does not require greasy skin to develop. Dry skin will do just fine.

As far as adults are concerned, men are really in a spot (pun intended) if acne develops on the face. If this happens, shaving can be a tricky and painful business as they negotiate their way around their acne to avoid going through it.

Acne in adults is a complex issue. There is another problem with adult acne. Most of the products on the market are intended for the treatment of acne in adolescents. But they contain substances that irritate the skin of adults. Apart from that, acne that develops in adulthood can last for years and may also cause the skin to age faster. Hormones also play a part here, as women have to deal with the hormonal changes accompanying menstruation and pregnancy. These are conditions that sometimes encourage the development of acne.

Adult acne, the trouble spots. Unfortunately, adult acne also tends to make the skin age faster. In addition, if it is not treated promptly, the scars that are caused by adult acne tend to be permanent. The natural response of the body to acne is to focus antioxidants in the affected area. As a result, the skin of adults who have acne is given to wrinkling.

All of a sudden, adult acne is looking like a rather complicated business, would you not say? And you thought you were through with acne years ago. But it is time to take a look at what you can do about it.

Do not lose heart, you can beat your acne. The best thing you can do about your acne as an adult is to ensure that you maintain a good lifestyle and eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Drink lots of water and make sure that you get plenty of fresh air. Above all, try not to touch your acne.

Remember that there are a number of products on the market for the treatment of acne. However, many of these products have unpleasant side effects, so you should select your acne treatment carefully. You could perhaps try to tackle your acne the proactive way.

Safe treatments for your acne. Proactive acne treatment relies on natural remedies but not all acne sufferers are convinced of its effectiveness. The proactive approach is about treating acne internally and externally, and you can be sure that it will be completely safe. Proactive products for the treatment of acne have improved in recent years.

One product that has become pretty popular from this perspective is 101E Acne Getaway. This could be just the product for you because it is specially formulated to tackle several skin problems, heal and revive your skin, apart from tackling grease, pimples and blackheads. It will also restore the moisture balance of your skin. You could also consider Oregano Oil RX, which comes in the form of an organic skin care cream, 300% stronger than the conventional oregano oil.

So there you are, even if you have been caught off guard, there is no need to get too upset because there is plenty of help at hand. Your acne need no longer be the nightmare it once was, so do cheer up!
